Cuenca is a memorable Spanish city perched on a hill between the Júcar and Huécar rivers. Its historical centre, named a World Heritage Site, is full of beautiful medieval buildings such as the majestic cathedral. Among them we find the famous Casas Colgadas, built in the 14th century, hanging on the cliff edge, almost defying gravity and the force of the river Huécar immediately below. Cuenca is also the location of Museo de Arte Abstracto Español, which celebrates the work of Spanish abstract artists who worked during the 1950s and 60s.

The Romans founded Valencia in 138 A.D. on the banks of the River Turia, and the Moors were later to turn it into an agricultural and industrial centre, specialising in the production of ceramics, paper, silk and leather goods. But it was during the 15th and 16th centuries that the city took full advantage of its Mediterranean location as a trading post. In more recent years it has been growing and established itself alongside other great Spanish cities as a cultural and scientific centre, with marvellous new architectural works such as the Palau de Congresos as it is known in the Valencian language (Palacio de Congresos in Castilian) and the Ciutat de les Arts i les Ciències.

Pick up the rental car at the nearest desk to your hotel and head to the picturesque town of Cuenca. The well-preserved medieval old town, being a World Heritage Site, is characterized by its relaxed and quiet atmosphere, stunning mountain scenery, cobbled streets and ancient buildings. The main attraction is certainly the casas colgadas (hanging houses). As you walk through sleepy Cuenca, you are sure to notice the houses that seem to hang in the air, perched above the Huécar River gorge. Standing on the San Pablo Bridge, you can take the most beautiful photos of these hanging houses; and you can also enjoy the beautiful scenery! In truth, you will be amazed at every turn by the magnificent views and unspoiled nature. Visit the historic Gothic cathedral at Plaza Mayor and marvel at the stunning stained-glass windows and artwork. Stroll through this square to soak up the local atmosphere of this walled medieval city and explore the ruins of Cuenca Castle. Afterwards, continue to Valencia.

This enchanting city, Spain’s second largest, has everything: it is a cosmopolitan European urban centre that preserves its traditional shops and street markets, it has both a mountain and beaches, and it has historical and artistic icons on what seems like every other corner, yet it lives life to the full in the present. Even the façades of its residential buildings are colourful and unique, full of detail.

In your second day in this cosmopolitan European urban city that preserves its traditional aura, be sure to contemplate the Casa Batlló, one of houses Gaudí built for the industrial families in the Eixample Area. This colourful tiled house is the architect's take on the Mediterranean sea and it is a sublime fusion of aesthetic and functions. You will also have the opportunity to visit the colorful Parc Guell, a lovely park on top of the fill with an overwhelming view over Barcelona. It is another of Gaudi’s masterpieces. Our driver will take you to the park and back. If you still want to walk around, stop by the Passeig de Sant Joan and admire how the Arc de Triompf’s reddish contours appear in the horizon. Cross Parc de la Ciutadella, a green lung in the city center, and admire the monumental fountain and its splendour.

In your last day, start by visiting, for example, the La Ribeira neighborhood, an architecturally medieval district, also modern and culturally vibrant, full of stores, restaurants and cafes worth exploring. Here you will also find the impressive Palau de la Música Catalana, declared a World Heritage Site, and the Picasso Museum. Explore the Montjuic quarter, where you can find some of the most beautiful views over the city, plenty of parks and museums, such as the idyllic Parc de Montjuic and the historic Museu Nacional d’Art de Catalunya, and some of the most historical monuments, such as the castle on top of the hill and the Fundación Joan Miró.
