Put on a comfortable pair of shoes and head out to explore the city. Start at the Plaza de Colón, the square named after Christopher Columbus. Here you will see a huge monument of the explorer and the largest flag in Spain. From there, move on to the Puerta de Alcalá, an enormous monument with three arches, which, until the end of the 19th century, was the entry point to Madrid for those arriving from Alcalá de Henares in the East. To get to the center of the city, pass through the Plaza Cibeles, where you will find the famous fountain and the grandiose Palacio de Comunicaciones, from where you will get a wonderful panoramic view. You can also relax in the bucolic Parque de El Buen Retiro. Our local English-speaking guide will take you on a true gastronomic adventure, a real tapas tour! Go from place to place like the locals do and, as you make your way through the narrow streets, from bar to bar, get to know the traditional Madrid’s neighborhoods and try lots of different, tasty tapa specialties.

Economy and Superior tours include: 3h30 Tapas group tour with tastings.

What is known is that Segovia was founded by Celts and occupied successively by Romans and Moors, and that it was later a favourite residence of Castile’s monarchs. Alternative legends have it as founded by Hercules or by the son of Noah; the Alcázar, its fabulous castle shaped like the bow of a ship, is also said to have inspired Walt Disney in working on his film Sleeping Beauty. The town’s fine castle is perhaps half the size of the gigantic Gothic cathedral in the Plaza Mayor. Since 1985 it has been a UNESCO World Heritage site. Another big attraction that draws many visitors to Segovia is the colossal Roman aqueduct, built in the 1st century A.D.Segovia is a quiet town with a pastoral atmosphere, with 55,000 inhabitants.

Pick up your rental car at the nearest desk to your hotel and head to Segovia, nestled in the heart of Spain's Castile and León region. It is indeed a city steeped in history and architectural marvels, meriting its UNESCO World Heritage Site status. Among its numerous attractions, three stand out for their historical significance and beauty, and today is the perfect time to visit them! Firstly, the Roman Aqueduct of Segovia, a testament to ancient Roman engineering and architecture, stands as a monumental gateway to the city's past. Built around the 1st or 2nd century AD, this aqueduct is renowned for its remarkable preservation and the ingenious design that has stood the test of time. The Alcázar of Segovia takes you from Roman feats to medieval splendor. Perched like a stone ship at the confluence of two rivers, this castle with its fairy-tale turrets and once formidable moat has played many roles: a royal palace, a military academy, and even a state prison. Today, it opens its gates to visitors as a museum. Lastly, the Segovia Cathedral, affectionately termed the 'Lady of Cathedrals,' crowns the city with its Gothic grandeur. Its towering spires and intricate façades invite admiration and contemplation. Segovia, with these three jewels—the Aqueduct, the Alcázar, and the Cathedral—offers a journey through time! After visiting Segovia, head to Burgos. Part of the Way of St James (Camino de Santiago), Burgos was originally a fortress town which protected the border between the kingdoms of Castilla y León and Navarra. Burgos actually means various “small villages” - these tiny hamlets merged together and formed this impressive city.

San Sebastián or Donostia, as it is known in Basque, is a fantastic city by the sea near the frontier with France that is a popular holiday destination for Spaniards. And no wonder: the Belle Époque architecture of many of its buildings and the backdrop of the high Pyrenees are offset perfectly by the blue of the sea in the fabulous La Concha bay, whose promenade affords fantastic panoramic views. However, San Sebastián has more to offer than its sunshine and beach: the picturesque Parte Vieja (old town) is ideal to discover on foot or by bicycle, amid the alleys and arcades, where you will find some unmissable pintxos bars. Indeed, this part of town has a cluster of Michelin-starred restaurants. All in all, San Sebastián is a lively, enthralling place, and one where Basque is spoken more than in any other city.

The capital of the community of Navarre – and in the past, of the kingdom with the same name – this is a city that despite its proximity to France reflects a great deal of pride in Spanish traditions. Get ready to explore Pamplona, the capital of Navarra founded by Roman general Pompey, located between the Ebro River and the Pyrenees. Discover the small historic center, lined with medieval city walls, by wandering through its narrow streets, cobbled squares and colored houses. Marvel at the neoclassical buildings and enjoy the green spaces, as Pamplona is made up of many leafy parks. Visit the Cathedral, the Church of San Saturnino – another stopping point for pilgrims on their way to Santiago – the Church of San Lorenzo and the Plaza de Toros (bullring). Brimming with culture and history, Pamplona, a city Ernest Hemingway held so dear, has a lot of architectural gems to admire. Afterwards, drive to Laguardia, a small medieval fortified town, located atop a rocky hill.

Driving along the road through the suburbs and into Olite is a bit like zooming backwards in time. You go quickly from modern homes to Roman walls and stone-built houses, all in a uniform honey colour. In the distance, the silhouette of the grand castle towers over the town, which was favoured by royalty in the Middle Ages, especially by Carlos 3rd who, in the 15th century, governed the realm from here. Having withstood the passage of time, Olite is today is one of the best places in Navarre for Gothic architecture and among the best in Europe, making it worth your while to walk through its narrow streets to see the stone houses, medieval arcades and fine churches. Nevertheless, Olite is no museum city and has increasingly been making its mark as a producer of excellent red and rosé wine.

The capital of Aragon and one of Spain’s great cities, situated on the banks of the River Ebro, with the majestic Basilica of Nuestra Señora del Pilar (Our Lady of the Pillar), an enormous Baroque edifice, as one of its biggest attractions. Strategically positioned between Madrid and Barcelona, Zaragoza is worth a visit on its own merits. It has fine examples of Mudejar architecture, and has played an important role throughout history, having been ruled by the Romans, Muslims and Christians. Its name derives from its Roman designation of Caesaraugusta; under the Moors that became Saraqusta. It is a city for those who enjoy going out, with plenty of lively tapas bars and a buzzing cultural scene and nightlife that is very much appreciated by locals.

On your way to Barcelona, stop by Zaragoza, gracefully poised on the banks of the Ebro River. The city serves as a bridge between Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia, and Bilbao. Zaragoza's roots stretch back to Roman times, and it has been a significant crossroads in Spanish history, witnessing and integrating the influences of the Moors, Christians, and Jews. One of Zaragoza's most illustrious landmarks is the Basilica of Our Lady of the Pillar, a marvel of baroque architecture that dominates the city's skyline. According to legend, it was here that the Virgin Mary appeared atop a pillar, marking the spot with a magnificent basilica. Not far from the spiritual allure of the Basilica lies the Aljafería Palace, a stunning example of Islamic architecture in the heart of a predominantly Christian land. Built in the 11th century during the Muslim rule, this palace complex astonishes visitors with its ornate coffered ceilings, intricate stucco work, and lush gardens, offering a glimpse into the luxurious court life of the Taifa of Zaragoza. Zaragoza's dedication to culture and arts is further embodied in the Goya Museum, housed in the Renaissance building of the former La Seo Cathedral. After falling in love with this city, head to Barcelona.

This small region in the interior gets its name from the local priory which began to plant vines on the 12th century. The earth in Priorat is called \\ldblquote llicorella\\rdblquote in Catalan (it means \\ldblquote slate\\rdblquote ) and it is made up of small pieces of red and black slate. Nearby, you can visit the ruins of Mosteiro Scala Dei, hidden in the mountains, and small villages such as Gratallops and Porrera.

Pretty much everyone who visits Barcelona falls in love with it; for many, it is their dream destination. This enchanting city, Spain’s second largest, has everything: it is a cosmopolitan European urban centre that preserves its traditional shops and street markets, it has both a mountain and beaches, and it has historical and artistic icons on what seems like every other corner, yet it lives life to the full in the present. Even the façades of its residential buildings are colourful and unique, full of detail.

Head to Priorat, a small region near Tarragona, that gets its name from the local priory. Famous for its wines, Priorat is one of the most innovative regions in terms of methods of wine production. Go to the ruins of Mosteiro Scala Dei, tucked beneath the hills of Montsant, and admire the stunning mountainous scenery of Priorat. As Priorat is home to some small, picturesque villages, you can also take the opportunity to visit the ancient mountaintop village of Siurana, characterized by its cobbled streets and stone houses. In Priorat, you can still visit the castle in Falset (housing the county museum) and the old mines in Bellmunt del Priorat. After that, head back to Barcelona.
