Apologies for our late email – we have been travelling Ireland & England and have only just returned to New Zealand yesterday.
Thank you so much for organising our trip, what a wonderful holiday we had in Portugal, everything was absolutely fabulous and we enjoyed ourselves so much. We were initially apprehensive of what to expect, but it exceeded all of our expectations!! The car, GPS & hotels were first class. Our favourite place was Pinhao in Douro!
Our guides were amazing with all their general and local knowledge – we had a fantastic walking tour around Lisbon with Joanna, a great tour of Sintra with Rosario, Andre our guide in Porto was very informative and lastly our Tuk Tuk driver Teigo was very entertaining!!
We are recommending Portugal Trails to all of our friends!!

Sorry for the delay is writing back to you. We have both been very busy as work since our return.
We want to thank you for arranging such a wonderful trip for us! The arrangements all worked perfectly. The pousadas we stayed in were wonderful places, in great locations with fantastic service. The organization you did for us, with the car, GPS and travel guides was immensely helpful. We found the driving quite straightforward and never got lost!
The hike in the Sintra area was beautiful and the guide was able to drop us off at one of the castles there, where we toured and then walked back into town along a path he showed us and took the train back to Lisbon. Thanks again for quickly fixing the miscommunication on that day from the guide. That is one of the reasons we prefer to engage with local travel agents, because if anything unusual happens, someone is nearby to quickly fix it, as you did.
Our only regret was that we didn’t have enough time to see more of the country! We will have to come back again.

“Hi Sofia
We arrived home just now after a wonderful trip. The Azor Hotel staff delivered the GPS and wifi device to the post office for us.
We enjoyed everything in Portugal and in Sao Miguel/Ponta Delgada. Rui Madeiros took us in a great tour Sunday to Sette Cidades. If you don’t use his services directly, I hope you will. He was terrific.
We also went for dinner (twice) to Cais 20 – it has amazing seafood and fish – and is obviously a local favourite. We can’t recommend it too highly!
There are too many highlights to mention them all. But we loved the Douro cruise, and the Pipadouro boat was very comfortable – and somewhat unique.
Porto was a surprise – a really pleasant blend of old and modern!
We will certainly recommend you to our friends who plan a trip to Portugal.

What can I say, it was everything we expected. Portugal Trails was excellent, the planning, the accommodations, the various recommendations, the cost, the first class service.
The way the trip was planned we never felt rushed, never felt the need to have to do something that maybe we did not feel like. The concept of a self drive with a GPS is great and other than a couple wrong turns we survived.
Portugal is a beautiful country with equally beautiful people.
We liked the idea of the different experiences – big city to small villages, ocean side, rivers, mountains.
Both Suzette and I would like to thank you for making our 21 day tour one of the most memorable.

We had a WONDERFUL time in Portugal and although Ron and I often do not return to countries we visited before,as there is SO much of this world to see, I know we will be back as we just LOVE Portugal and the people who live there. Our trip was perfect in every way and you did a wonderful job of getting us wonderful hotels with great views and a wonderful itinerary. We especially loved our last three nights in Cascais at Hotel Albatroz. We had great weather and go back and revisit places we saw three years ago that were too cloudy to see views !!
