My partner and I had an excellent experience on the Portugal Trails train tour. All of the car transfers, train rides, activities and hotels were good experiences or even better than that!
The group walking tour in Lisbon and the private walking tour in Porto were outstanding, as were the Douro tour and the Ervideara winery visit.
Most of all, every person providing services, whether driver, tour guide or hotel staff, was professional, welcoming and went beyond the call of duty to help us make the most of our trip.
We loved our visit to your beautiful country and will return someday. We will be in touch with Portugal Trails when that day comes.

The guides were all terrific and your choice of places to visit, hotels and the general pace of the trip was just right.
We had the chance to see “Amalia” (a musical playing in Lisbon) which was wonderful and we got the chance to walk on the Paiva River Walk which was terrific although a bit tricky to find. I recommend that you consider that as one of your recommended stops. Also, the train ride up the Douro River from the railroad station next to the Vintage House to the end of the line and back should not be missed and only takes about 3 hours round trip including waiting for the next train at the eastern terminus.
We actually got to see the bullfight!
When I start to think about the next vacation in about 6 months I’ll get back to you regarding a trip to Madrid and western Spain.
